I regret to inform you that tonight's Rock To Recover Community Jam Session at the Summit County Community and Senior Center is canceled. I’m sincerely sorry for those of you who rely on these events for a sense of community, understanding, access to instruments, and as a means of improving your mental health.
As some of you may know, I have multiple chronic ailments that occasionally impede my ability to move all of the instruments and equipment. This is once again true regarding tonight’s event.
Please know that the Rock To Recover staff is working diligently to secure funding so that I am able to hire a part-time staff member to assist me on event days. The 90 minute event plus the entire logistical process of moving, transporting, setup and teardown of instruments and equipment takes me over 7 hours. This is true even with getting help from guests during teardown and reloading. On days when my body is not capable of meeting this requirement, I am currently left with no choice but to cancel the event.
Until we are able to secure funding and hire an employee, any volunteer assistance you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated. Our events are free to attend, and are helpful to many of our community members. However, it does require a commitment of time, effort, and finances to create these events. If you are willing and able to help with any logistical requirements for putting on events, please contact me via the website, email or phone. Please check the “Volunteer Opportunities” page of our website for a full list of ways that you can help. Additionally, donations are always accepted via our website and by using the QR code at our events, and they are vitally important to be able to continue to offer this wonderful group.
Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to seeing you at our next event at the Silverthorne Pavilion on Tuesday, May 28th.
